Frontline is a source of hope to young men and women ages 18-38 suffering from alcohol and drug abuse while also providing an effective treatment and recovery support system.
Porter UMC supports the mission of Frontline, Inc. through monetary donations, as well as providing Life Recovery Bibles for their clients.

Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry
The food pantry is located in the old Wiseway building at the corner of 8th and Broadway (801 W. Broadway), Chesterton, Indiana 46304.
The Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry serves almost 9,000 individuals each year. Each month, the congregation of Porter UMC collects non-perishable items to donate to the pantry based on the current needs.

Duneland Medical Equipment Loan Closet
The Duneland Medical Equipment Loan Closet is a wonderful resource for those residents who are in temporary need of medical equipment and reside in the Townships of Duneland, Pine, Jackson & Liberty.
Located in the Duneland Resale and Community Building at 801 Broadway in Chesterton, it loans out a variety of medical equipment, including commodes, wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, crutches, canes, etc, for a 3 months period free of charge. The closet now has knee walkers! Loan period for these special items is 1 MONTH and requires a $20 returnable depost. It is open on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Royal Family Kids Camp
RFKC offers camp experiences for children ages 2 - 12 who have experienced challenging family situations or who have been placed in foster care. Because of the financial support of many donors, these children are able to attend camp free of charge. Campers receive counseling, guidance and mentoring by trained volunteer staff and participate in worship, Bible study, games, sports, and other activities. The Royal Family Kids Camp helps provide a fun-filled week of positive memories in a Christian setting by planting the seeds of hope into their lives so they can believe in themselves and carry those feelings with them long after their stay at camp has ended.

Thanks to those who came out to help organize & fill purses.
"Purses of Hope"
The women of Porter United Methodist Church continue to focus on the Purses of Hope mission outreach to help women in need, those who’ve been abused, and those who are homeless. The women agreed to take this on as an ongoing mission project throughout the year and have reached out to the congregation to help this worthy cause by setting up a collection box for used purses and necessary items (such as toiletries, makeup, etc.). Women who are battered or abused usually leave their circumstances with only the clothes on their back and this outreach helps give them some of the basic necessities to start over.
Over the last several months, the women filled the purses as donated items came in, making sure that each purse had every item that was suggested. A wallet was even included in each purse with 5 $1 bills inside, along with a note of encouragement. On behalf of the church, Judy Reales (Missions Chair) and Jeanine Thomas delivered a total of 10 completed purses (5 to Gabriel’s Horn in Portage and 5 to Dayspring Women’s Center in Valparaiso).
Gabriel’s Horn Shelter, located in Portage, reaches out to Porter County’s homeless women and their children by providing a safe and temporary shelter and by offering various outreach services. They empower women by equipping them with the tools to become self sufficient through a partnership with the community, education, and counseling.
Dayspring Women’s Center’s mission is to change the lives of those in crisis on their journey from surviving to thriving. Located in Valparaiso, this center serves women and their children who are homeless, previously homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. It is a program that provides a welcoming and hospitable environment where they can receive support as they journey towards stability and wholeness.
