A prayer ministry is a vital outreach of any church. Prayer is a way of connecting with your Heavenly Father and speaking with a living and personal God, much like you would talk with a friend. At Porter UMC, prayer needs of others are taken during worship, calling the church office, or through our phone prayer chain.
A “PRAY” group meets in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. Following Jesus’ example, this group will lift up any prayer requests given to the church, as well as spend time in prayer for our church, community, and world! When the weather is nicer; there will be prayer walks in the community and reach out to our neighbors to pray with and for them. As Bishop Trimble, the bishop of the UMC Indiana conference said, “much prayer, much power….little prayer, little power….no prayer, no power.” God calls us to be in communication with Him all the time, so that we can be successful in our mission.
